Learning Beyond the Classroom with Semester, Summer, or Short-term Study Abroad Opportunities!
The UNC Asheville Department of Business is committed to helping students explore their potential through experiential education opportunities. Studying abroad as a business major is one way students can expand their experiences and develop an understanding of the world and their place as a global citizen. Furthermore, by participating in a study abroad program, management majors can give themselves a competitive edge in the job market. Employers today seek out individuals who have had the type of experience study abroad provides.
Business Major Requirements
As part of the curriculum requirements for graduation, UNC Asheville business majors must fulfill either an internship, an undergraduate research project, or a study abroad program. To fulfill the requirement via study abroad, students will complete at least 3 management/business focused credit hours abroad in an approved study abroad program..

When possible, these courses will be approved prior to departure so students will know how the courses impact their UNC Asheville degree requirements.
Common Questions
When to Study Abroad?
While it is up to the student to decide which time is best for their study abroad experience, students in the business major tend to have the most flexibility during their sophomore or junior year. A student cannot participate in a semester-long study abroad in their last semester at UNC Asheville.
I only speak English. Is this a problem?
No. The majority of management and business focused study abroad programs offer coursework in English. View programs with business courses offered in English.
Can I afford to study abroad?
Most of the semester study abroad programs offered by UNC Asheville have the same tuition as studying on the UNC Asheville campus (exchange based programs).
